As of August 2026, Florence is a city where every street corner feels like a page from a history book. Walking through the Piazza della Signoria, I was surrounded by statues of David, Perseus, and Hercules — each one a testament to the era's artistic ambition. The Uffizi Gallery, with its Botticelli and Michelangelo works, is a must-visit, but don’t forget the Duomo and its breathtaking dome, which dominates the skyline like a monument to human ingenuity.

What makes Florence unique is the way it weaves art into daily life. You can sip espresso at a tiny café right next to a frescoed church, or stroll through the Ponte Vecchio while admiring the golden reflections on the Arno River. The city is a living museum, and I found myself stopping more than I was walking, just to take it all in.

The city is also a haven for traditional Japanese arts, like kintsugi (the art of repairing broken pottery with gold) and ikebana (flower arrangement). I visited a small workshop where artisans demonstrated these crafts, and I left with a deeper appreciation for the philosophy behind them.

Kyoto is also a great place to experience art in nature. The Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is a must-visit, and the views of the Katsura River from the Tōfuku-ji Temple are simply unforgettable.

Beyond the museum, Bilbao has a rich cultural scene. The Museum of Modern Art, the Basque Culinary World Prize, and the Azkuna Zentroa cultural center are all worth exploring. I also enjoyed a visit to the Old Town, where Basque culture and history come alive.

What surprised me most was how welcoming the people were. Bilbao is a city that invites you to stay, explore, and immerse yourself in its artistic identity.

Mexico City: A Mosaic of Art and Culture

I was particularly moved by Kahlo’s self-portraits, which captured both pain and resilience in equal measure.

I also visited the Palacio de Bellas Artes, where the murals of Diego Rivera and the stained glass of José Clemente Orozco are a must-see. The city’s art scene is as diverse as its people, and every visit leaves you with a new perspective.
